Ireland’s leading technology organisations were recently recognised by it@cork, European Tech Cluster. Now in it’s 6th year, the Leaders Awards acknowledge innovation and excellence across a number of categories spanning different sectors. This year’s winners included YouGetitBack (High Growth), PFH (Sustained Excellence), Crest Solutions (Research & Innovation) and Alanya Animal Health Monitoring (High Potential Start Up). HIQA, the Health and Information Quality Authority, received an award for the leading IT Department, while Scoil Mhuire na nGrást (Belgooly) was awarded the Excellence in Education Award. Alanya, an exciting young Irish technology company, based in the Rubicon Centre have developed a ground-breaking new health monitoring system for the global dairy industry. Their product represents the first health monitoring solution of its kind in the industry for dairy cows and through their health monitoring technology, Alanya has also been able to dramatically improve on existing solutions in the marketplace for estrus detection.

Alanya are led by a world-class management team with strong experience across both the dairy agricultural sector and the IT industry. The business is progressing an exciting roadmap to further extend the features and functionality of the Alanya solution. These advanced features open up a whole new landscape of improving the management of dairy animal health conditions such as mastitis, which costs the dairy industry billions of dollars annually.

Alanya Limited is a research driven initiative aiming to reduce farm manager pain through improving the efficiency of their breeding programs and by reducing health management costs.

In his address to the 250 strong audience in the Maryborough Hotel & Spa, Denis Collins, Chair of it@Cork said “More than previous years, the indigenous sector performed extremely well this year in the Leaders Awards, and clearly demonstrates the calibre of innovation and technological distinction in Ireland. The Leaders Award winners are driving progress and excellence in the industry, and it@cork is delighted to recognise their achievements over the past year. Our IT Hub is thriving and making a significant contribution to the economy – we must continue to cultivate the IT industry to get us on the path to growth”, said Denis Collins, Chair of it@cork, European Tech Cluster in his address to the 250 strong audience in the Maryborough Hotel & Spa.
