New Frontiers participant John O’Flynn shares his success in entrepreneurship alongside wife Lauren with the launch of their very own content creation app LA Edit! Completing New Frontiers Phase 1 in 2022, and currently participating in New Frontiers Phase 2 here at the Rubicon Centre, John says that the programme is “a very impactful programme with so much expertise in building successful businesses, alongside a great group we have. It’s been fantastic for us.” With the help of LEO Fingal in building their MVP, as well as Cork City LEO’s contribution in helping them exhibit at the Web Summit, John and Lauren have received excellent support in building their successful business idea!
What is LA Edit?
LA Edit is an all-in-one platform helping creators in designing, managing, and controlling their social media content. LA Edit was brought to life by a couple named John and Lauren. John and Lauren came from different backgrounds in terms of education and lifestyle, where John completed a degree in software engineering, while Lauren has been a content creator and influencer for over 10 years. Combining both skills, they both decided to create LA Edit. John’s expertise on engineering helped with the creation of the platform, while Lauren’s passion for photography and social media helped with the service itself to others.
The idea came to life by a simple problem that Lauren was facing with content creation. Lauren felt that the difficulty between using many different platforms could be simply changed by the creation of an all-in-one platform. So that’s when they decided to build LA Edit. Brainstorming and planning from December 2021, 2 years later in December 2023 John and Lauren launched the first version of LA Edit.
The first version of LA Edit, “LA Edit Lite” was released on December 20th in the App Store and focuses on being user friendly by providing a simple and aesthetic way of editing photos. Being provided with Lauren’s designed presets as well as having the ability to browse tools that suit them best, LA Edit Lite has a diverse range of facilities to accommodate everyone. Gathering feedback from users along the way is a huge help for LA Edit in building their “Pro” version that is planned to be released later this year.
