We’re pleased to welcome Mariteq Solutions to the Rubicon centre, an independent company delivering expert service support and advanced technology to the marine industry.
Mariteq focuses on two key areas: providing highly skilled service engineers for recreational, commercial, and military operations, and developing portable sonar systems for seabed mapping and search and rescue missions.
The company is made up of a team of 10 Electrical and Electronic Engineers, offering over 150 years of combined maritime experience. Their independence from manufacturers means they provide truly unbiased advice, helping clients make informed decisions.
Mariteq was founded following the completion of a two-year secondment with the Halpin Research Centre at MTU and a master’s in forensic computing. The transition from a sea-going career to launching Mariteq allowed the founder to apply more than two decades of Naval Service experience to subsea technology development while achieving a more balanced work-life dynamic.
Mariteq’s main offering is the PUWMA (Portable UnderWater Mapping Aid) sonar system, used in applications like search and recovery, port security, and seabed mapping. The company is also working on an enhanced version of PUWMA for release in late 2025 and is collaborating with MTU to develop a prototype Unmanned Surface Vessel with configurable payloads.

What makes Mariteq stand out is its mission to deliver affordable, high-quality underwater mapping tools to voluntary teams—technology that was previously limited to military and government organizations.
