Enterprise Irelands New Frontiers Phase 1 is a part-time evening programme that helps participants understand the fundamental viability of a business idea. The aim of Phase 1 is to establish if your idea can be turned into a viable business proposition.
Midway through the phase 1 programme participants undertook a design led thinking workshop facilitated by Michelle O’ Keeffe and led by Sophie O’ Callaghan of MTU’s Nimbus Research Centre. Design-led thinking is such a powerful approach for entrepreneurs. It’s not just a method, it’s a mindset and process that emphasizes empathy, ideation, prototyping, and testing to find solutions that are desirable, feasible, and valuable.
In Michelle’s words:
‘The workshop focused on embracing the mindsets, skills, and methods of design thinking — a powerful approach we use to explore challenges, spark ideas, and, most importantly, keep humans at the heart of every solution.’
Design thinking is one of the many topics covered during phase one, the others include:
Market Research
Defining Your USP
Target Customers & Acquisition
LEAN Canvas & Business Planning & Financing your Start up
Pitching & Applying for Phase 2
It is workshops like these that continue to equip participants with the tools to create and lead a successful future in their career.
