Treemetrics, the leading forestry analytics company in the world, announced it has reached a milestone of over €20M in revenue generated for its customers in over 14 countries world wide over the last twelve months. Additionally, the Cork-based startup announced that it has now indexed over 11M trees, making it by far the largest forestry analytics database in the world. Forests cover over 25% of the planet’s surface and are a critical part of our ecosystem. The global forestry market is worth over €50B yet tools for its measurement and analysis have remained virtually unchanged for the last hundred years.

Known by industry insiders as ‘the Google of forestry’, Treemetrics has revolutionized the sector using technology and algorithms created over five years of deep research and development. “People talk about the big data industry, well this is literally some of the biggest data in the world” said Enda Keane, Treemetrics CEO. “The world’s forests are critical to our well-being; they keep us alive (by absorbing carbon dioxide) and they pay for pensions (through government ownership), yet we lose over €10B in revenue each year because most measurement is still done using 19th century technology. Treemetrics’ measurement technology has changed the landscape of forestry analysis and it has already created over €20M in new revenue for our customers in the last twelve months alone.”

Treemetrics’ technology is used by some of the largest forestry companies in the world, in the United States, Ireland, Norway, Finland, UK and Australia among other countries.

The company also announced that well-known Internet entrepreneur, Dylan Collins, was joining the board as Chairman. Dylan stated: “Treemetrics’ technology is genuinely revolutionizing the global forestry industry. They are one of the most important companies in the world right now and I’m incredibly excited to be involved”.
