MTU is kicking off an exciting new chapter in research, innovation and enterprise, with funding of €14.6 million from the Higher Education Authority’s, Technological University Research and Innovation Supporting Enterprise (TU-RISE) programme. This funding brings incredible opportunities for our researchers and local enterprise to connect, collaborate, and create real-world impact together.
With TU-RISE, we’re bringing together our research community and over 200 regional enterprises and startups for structured, meaningful partnerships. This includes forming multidisciplinary teams drawing on our research community, including postgraduates, postdoctoral researchers, and academic staff, to participate in a wide range of workshops throughout the next few years to tackle enterprise specific innovation challenges.
The recent recruitment of an Enterprise Liaison Officer will play a key role in facilitating these relationships and this knowledge transfer and exchange. MTU is also growing their research capacity with an additional 54 new researchers, who are all set to play an essential role in these partnerships.
From workshops and hackathons to hands-on “Living Labs,” these are interactive sessions where new ideas will flourish. Techniques such as design thinking and lean innovation will be employed ensuring a mix of creativity and structured problem solving.
Through TU-RISE, our university is creating a collaborative hub for innovation that’s set to have a lasting impact on our community, in the region and beyond. We can’t wait to see what amazing innovations come out of these partnerships!
