In February, 2024, Munster Technological University proudly hosted a number of students from 10 European Universities at the annual INGENIUM Junior Winter School. ‘10 Days of INGENIUM’ is an alliance dedicated to connecting students and staff from all cultural backgrounds, who share ambitious values around education, research, social responsibility and sustainable economic growth. We welcomed a total of 50 students across 10 universities.
MTU’s Innovation and Enterprise Office hosted Work Package 8, ‘Entrepreneurial INGENIUM’, whose primary focus was to distil an entrepreneurial mindset in each and every one of the participating students and staff.
We kicked off the week with a team building ‘Marshmallow Challenge’ followed by a presentation on how to go about creating your own Business Model Canvas. Students also partook in a Hackathon that ran over two days, which tackled challenges in both Cyber Security and Sustainability challenges.
MTU is one of few Universities in the alliance that have an incubation centre right at the heart of its campus. As part of the entrepreneurial initiative, Kyra Dunne, Innovation Projects Executive hosted a workshop at the Rubicon Centre about Incubation and Accelerators, where Angie Nagle, Co-Founder of BladeBridge was welcomed to talk about her experience of participating in the New Frontiers Programme at the Rubicon Centre in 2022 and further scaling her company, as well as Niall O’Keefee, Head of Local Enterprise Office Cork, who talked about the impact of Incubators for the region.
The week concluded with a special tree planting ceremony by MTU’s President, Maggie Cusack. To learn more about INGENIUM you can visit: https://ingenium-university.eu/
