May 4 2012 : Irish company Cully and Sully has been sold to US natural foods company Hain Celestial for an undisclosed sum. Based in Shanagarry, Co Cork, Cully and Sully makes a range of soups, pies and hotpots and supplies all the major food retailers in Ireland. Co-founder Cullen Allen - or Cully for short - said he and business partner Colum O'Sullivan will stay on at the company and hope to see it crack Europe and the US. "Between the jigs and the reels we got talking to these guys and they offered basically to buy out our company, buy 100% of it" he said.

One of the leading experts in the field of technical writing says Ireland could be a world leader in the discipline, which employs thousands of people globally. "Around the world, there are 330,000 people working in the field of technical writing and I don’t see any reason why Ireland shouldn’t be leading the field in this area."
